This June sees the launch of ‘Relay Your Way’ a truly unique and inspirational Relay across Britain to celebrate young people with disabilities and their extraordinary achievements. We are very excited that Pilrig Park School has been selected as a stop off point for ‘Relay Your Way’, a nationwide running, cycling, and walking event. We are one of thirty-eight schools nationwide to be taking part in this event.
‘Relay Your Way’ will celebrate young people with disabilities and their extraordinary achievements; call for young people with disabilities to have greater access to play and sport alongside highlighting the transformative power of inclusive sport and play. Launching in Glasgow on June 3rd, it will travel 2500 km through almost every major city in Britain before finishing at the Parallel Windsor Festival of Inclusivity at Windsor Great Park on July 6th. It is made up of 300 stages, varying from a 200 metre walk to a 50 kilometre bike ride, and everything in between.
As part of the exciting programme of events in Scotland, The Scottish Parliament will take centre stage on the 5th of June with a short race, featuring political leaders Anas Sarwar and John Swinney, in the landscaped Gardens after First Minister’s Questions. Pupils from Pilrig Park School will be taking part in events at The Scottish Parliament before we take hold of the baton and bring it back to the school, via Easter Road, for our own baton race here in our school playground.
If you are able, it would be fabulous to see you at The Scottish Parliament on the 5th June at about 12.45pm.
